 No, log into a terminal and goto /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins

ls to see what's in there, mplayer works fine and shouldn't take over from 
real-palyer for ram files though, so what have you actually installed ? It 
should only try to run windows type files. To play these you need the w32 
codecs installed. Do a search in google for playing windows media files 
firefox ubuntu.
