If you look carefully at the menus, well maybe not in breezy but you can 
add it to the gnome panel - you can get a root terminal.
Also you can do
$ sudo su
that will give you a root terminal.

ya I started getting that too, then upgraded to breezy and it went away.
I'd say just change your homepage, it's really trivial.
