Earthlink DSL failing to see Ubuntu

You must tell us more than this.  How are you connected to the DSL modem?
Directly?  If so, USB or Ethernet?  Through a router?  Is it wired or wifi?

There is a network administration control in Ubuntu.  You may need to run it
if you haven't already.
