I'm in the same boat as you. Not a programmer, but I like open source.
I think the best skill anyone can learn is how to use bugzilla. It is
very hard for the developers to test every possible combination of
hardware and software, and they are usually very quick to respond to a
report of a regression or crash. Test the beta releases and submit bug
reports. Contribute to the Wiki. Most importantly, don't get upset if
your bug report is closed as WONT_FIX.
