no. There seems to be a flaw with the HP printer driver. I've also had
similar problems with hp4m printers. the errors I get in the log are:

Oct 24 07:37:21 localhost no_device_found: INFO: open device failed;
will retry in 30 seconds...
Oct 24 07:37:51 localhost no_device_found: unable to send Event
hp:/no_device_found 5 5012: Broken pipe

and....

Oct 24 12:34:16 localhost no_device_found: unable to send DeviceOpen:
Broken pipe: prnt/hpijs/hplip_api.c 410
Oct 24 12:34:16 localhost no_device_found: unable to send Event
hp:/no_device_found 8 5012: Broken pipe

unfortunately I no longer have access to the system because the customer
that was using it decided to go back to Windows. They made the change
to Windows as a result of printing failing, problems with Samba (Samba
authentication separate from system authentication, share definition
challenges, etc.) and a thousand little cuts we tolerate (lvm2 quirks,
obtuse monitoring of raid array health, poor quality rendering of web
pages, level of work necessary for flash, Java, mp3, QuickTime, wma, etc).

I think I'm going to do a blog entry called "for want of a printer port,
a Linux sale was lost". I think I have enough material. ;-)
