startup services

Hi all,

When my fresh breezy install starts up & shuts down it seems to start 
and stop a lot of (new to me) services. Including RAID, LVM, enterprise 
LVM, ALSA card 0,1,2  Hardware abstraction layer and even HP linux image 
& printing system !

Some of them I know I do not need I know I can delve into 
/etc/init.d/.... to rename some services with for example a '_' before 
the name to disable them but is there a nice kde front end for this ?

Even better is there a HOWTO ?
