flac, I'm not sure if it's playable from install or not, it should be IMO. Mp3 is not an option for the base install, since Ubuntu vows to be a totally free distro and the mp3 format is currently patented. btw, Rhythmbox should also have the ability to play standard non-lossy formats like AIFF and WAVE without installing extra stuff ;) -- mostwanted
