myth tv - crackling audio

Can anyone tell me how to keep my audio from crackling when using mythtv?
I have tried everything I can think of. When listening to the realtime 
unbuffered audio it sounds great, although obviously it is out of synch with 
the buffered video. When I listen to the buffered audio it sound horrible 
regardless of the audio record settings.

I have opened up every possible audio channel for both my sound card (sound 
blaster live) and my capture card (tv2000xp), and turned off every channel 
that is not in use. This is driving me nuts. I have probably spent more than 
5 hours fudging with this. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
