Skype, Breezy and apt trying to fix it.

I have Skype working on my Breezy machine, installed from a .deb package I
downloaded. The official Skype, held in the apt repository has a dependency
problem which this third party .deb file manages to overcome. The .deb file
was installed with :-

	dpkg -i skype_1.2.0.17-1_i386.deb

Apt, and GUIs that use it, like Synaptic, a not 'getting on' with my version
of Skype. They see the package as broken and try to fix it - by
de-installing it.

I have tried to 'version lock' the package but this doesn't seem to have any
effect on apt's reluctance for the utility to be on my system. Is there
anything else I can do to persuade apt to ignore my working Skype?
