"gamin blocks ejecting cdrom in ubuntu hoary"

2 of my users (using hoary) today had problems ejecting a cdrom, with
one of the 2 i had time to look why there was a "device busy" error
with lsof it turned out that gam_server from gamin was running and
"using" the cdrom-drive, after killing that process the cdrom could be
ejected
i would like to prevent gamin to start at boot-time but a grep -r -i
"gam_server" in /etc/init.d/ shows nothing and it looks
like /etc/init.d/fam (i read somewhere that gamin replaced fam in
hoary) has nothing to do with it
- did other people come across this ?
http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/ shows some bug-reports for gamin, but not
about "occupying" the cdrom
- from where is gam_server started during boot up ?
- how to (nicely) prevent it from starting ?
