There's a question just asked on the ubuntu-uk list about speedtouch 
modems - no experience myself with these modems and linux (although 
they've been a bit tricky with Mac OS X.)

Personally, I advise using a router - everything is just so much easier 
and more versatile.

Also, you do know Bulldog don't have a great reputation, right?
