You could also take a look at the Debian Reference:

Ubuntu is Debian-based so much of that reference is also applicable to
Ubuntu (you can skip the installation chapter).

I wish Ubuntu had a guide as complete as the Debian Reference, but
bear in mind that reference is the product of many years of work ;).
