Not if you don't instal "linux-restricted-modules-FOO" for the -k7
kernel you're on. Both the fglrx and bvidia drivers come in tro aprts,
one for X and one for the kernel. Both are required to make it work.
The 386 one was probably installed when you set up the system. Adding
the -k7 one should see you sorted with the new kernel.
