Actually, there are example files already, in /usr/share/doc/shorewall (I 
think that's the dir name).  You just need to copy them over 
to /etc/shorewall, and edit a few files like zones, interfaces, policy, and 
rules for your setup.  The files are commented, so it's really 
straightforward.  I think it's a really good solution, that lets you get 
started easily, but also allows you to learn more at your own pace and do 
really complex stuff quite easily too, if you need it.
