slow wlan connection on atheros chipset

No problems here with MadWiFi for my a/b card, which it probably the
same as yours.

Suggestions:
1. Try moving farther away from the access point. RF isn't always better
when closer.
2. Test bandwidth against something on the wired network, or at least
the same setup running Windows for comparison.
