Sound not working as expected

Please ensure that you have not manually created an /etc/asound.conf or
~/.asoundrc (though set-default-soundcard will create the latter; please
read its contents before removing).

Skype uses OSS emulation, which is very difficult to asym currently.
You should, however, be able to use multiple native ALSA applications
simultaneously.
