Recovering data from failed Maxtor One Touch II drive

I dont know about Maxtor's reputation. I have never had a single problem 
with any other brand disk except Maxtor. I stick with WD and SG for 
important things and Maxtor for bulk storage because they are so cheap.

Just my thoughts (stay away from Maxtor).
