Breezy - Getting apache to execute python scripts

I'm still completely stuck. Can anyone offer some advice for setting up
Apache to execute Python CGI scripts on Ubuntu (Breezy)? I've tried adding
handlers, changing directory stuff, setting permissions, etc and nothing is
working. I'd prefer not to install mod_python if possible.

Please help. I'll post any files you think are relevant (I'm not sure I know
anymore :-(
