OpenOffice.org in KDE and GNOME

It's still not right, but at least I got some commandline output that might
be helpful. I switched the VLCPLUGIN to kde as per the directions above and
then ran oowriter2. Here's what I got.

andy at Exile:/etc/openoffice$ export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kde
andy at Exile:/etc/openoffice$ oowriter2
I18N: X Window System doesn't support locale "en_US.UTF-8"
I18N: Operating system doesn't support locale "en_US"
I18N: X Window System doesn't support locale "C"
Qt: Locales not supported on X server

OpenOffice opened right up, but not with the KDE theme. This seems to have
something to do with language settings?

I'm looking in synaptic to see if I can reconfigure my language settings.
This is weird.
