It's still not right, but at least I got some commandline output that
might be helpful. I switched the VLCPLUGIN to kde as per the
directions above and then ran oowriter2. Here's what I got.<br>

OpenOffice opened right up, but not with the KDE theme. This seems to have something to do with language settings?<br>

I'm looking in synaptic to see if I can reconfigure my language settings. This is weird.<br>
