installing skype on ubuntu 5.04

Skype made a major blunder in their latest (1.2.0.17) debian packages.
I've been trying to convince them to change their packages without luck.

You have a couple of options:

Install one of the two tar.bz2 versions, one of which can be obtained
here:
http://skype.com/go/getskype-linux-dynamic

or 
Install this old version (1.2.0.11) using dpkg: 
http://download.skype.com/linux/skype_1.2.0.11-1_i386.deb
