Kernel for Intel EM64T with Hyperthreading

I am confused as to why you are using the amd kernel for an intel part.
Is it because you want the 64 bit extension? Why not just run i686-smp
and call it a day. From what I have read on this list the 64 bit
extension to the kernel just causes extended pain.

Now I got the full frequency (3.6 GHz), but only one CPU showed (I was expecting two due to the hyperthreading). Finally I tried amd64-xeon and here I did get CPU0 and CPU1 listed correctly (at least I think so).
