updating ubuntu on dial up modem

Orestis82's solution is near the bottom of the screen. I've tried this with 
hoary, but instead of putting the line  file:///home/orestis/ubuntu-repo/ 
into Synaptic, I just stuffed it into my sources list and ran apt-get 
update.
