wireless generally does NOT work just out of the box.  You generally
have to add a driver or fix something for that to work.  If you have a
broadcom chipset try a search for 'broadcom' and you'll find a thread
with easy instructions (I suggest that because thats what I've used and
had success with, others are included I'm sure...)  You'll most likely
need to install ndiswrapper (apt-get or Synaptic) and the appropriate
driver is all.  I'm sure it wont be too much of a hassle.
