Alternatively you can install the gnome-art program
http://www.miketech.net/gnome-art/index.php#screenshots
it takes care of downloading and installing themes for every part of
gnome/gdm/x/ etc

If you are running the Breezy devel version of ubuntu it is in
universe so a quick search in synaptic will get it for you. If you are
running hoary or warty then you will need to grab the tar.gz from
thier site.
