No sound with vlc mozilla plugin

I would be very surprised if mplayer fares any better.

Gecko is the lay-out engine built by the Mozilla Foundation....originally
Netscape. It is used in Mozilla, Firefox, Epiphany, Galeon, etc. It is NOT
used in Opera or Konqueror. I've been thinking about installing konqueror to
see if I get sound there. But, I know that konqueror wants to embed
kaffeine, so the only thing I'll really be testing in xine.

Oh well. Silent movies are rather nostalgic don't you think?
