[breezy] update for usplash breaks boot splash...?

After I upgraded to Breezy from Hoary, I didn't see usplash. I ran the
command that was mentioned in order to enable it and I still haven't
been able to get it working.
After long hours of trying to get bootsplash to work, I was successfull
but after a kernel upgrade that was done when I did apt-get dist-upgrade
it stoped working and even though I have configured grub like it was set
up before I still haven't gotten bootsplash to work again. I still need
to try to get this to work, again.
