Installing SVN ??

sudo apt-get install subversion

That will get you both the client and the server.

> $ svn checkout http://svn.example.com/repos/calc

carl at cware1:~/html$ svn checkout http://svn.example.com/repos/calc
svn: PROPFIND request failed on '/repos/calc'
svn: PROPFIND of '/repos/calc': Could not resolve hostname `svn.example.com': Host 
not found (http://svn.example.com)

example.com is not real.
