Live CD hangs

Hi,

I am trying to use the 5.1 Live CD.  However, it hangs during boot right
after mentioning something about "enterprise volume manager" or
something like that.

I have never used Ubuntu, so I am totally clueless.

I am using an HP Pavillion zd8000 laptop.  Right now on my hard drive I
have Windows XP and Gentoo Linux.  I wonder if it has something to do
with the way my hard disk is set up as I remember seeing that the Live
CD might use existing swap space.
