You have to 'sudo less /var/log/Xorg.0.log' and go through it line by
line to see what is loading and what is failing. You should see a
screen full of messages about attempts to load different virtual sizes
and why each was rejected (or accepted). This may give you a clue as
to the problem. Perhaps you just entered an incorrect vertical or
horizontal frequency in your xorg.conf for your screens.
When you see the error, copy and paste it into a ubuntu wiki text
search to possibly get more enlightening tips .. or if that fails,
then paste it into a google search.
