Sorry, I have no intention of reading the rest of this.  I have tried to
point out that there is absolutely no hostility in my message.  I am
certainly far from a zealot - I will help anyone who wants, to install
Linux - preferably Kubuntu - but I'm working on an XP system as I write
this, and I haven't even attempted to install Linux on my wife's system.
