Personally I would be more inclined to buy a standalone DVD recorder 
(you can get them fairly cheap these days) and use that instead. My 
experience of TV capture on a computer has been more trouble than it's 
worth; latency etc. and syncing the sound can take up far too much time. 
And the added advantage is that at the end you have a standalone 
recorder that you can use from then on to record TV etc. in place of 
VHS, thus not adding to the legacy.
