Is Linux a desktop operating system?

Wow thats almost exacly the same as my brother, I have shown him may
desktops on windows, Mac, Linux, and Solaris he is a complete computer
noob. He likes Gnome by far the best, He finds it very easy and never
gets lost with it.
I like him using linux over windows because I had to fix the computer
weekly and re install monthly with him using it (i could have fixed
the problems but i dont have the time) now with Ubuntu on his computer
I haven't needed to do anything to his computer for over 3 months (it
updates through cron)
He loves it, I love it! It's win win for us.

Man, After learning how to use linux I wish I could configure windows
to the degree I can configure Linux

Linux is all I use, on all my Laptops, Desktops, Workstations (and
servers and firewalls without the desktop)
