Howto Samba (Update)

An update on the situation ;)

I have been able to configure Samba, now I'm able to see all of the
computers connected to the network and access their shares from the
WinXP machine. I can do the same from the Linux machines but I'm still
having the problem that I can only access them by their IP address and
not their hostnames :(

Now I have a question regarding the username and password sent by
nautilus, for example if I access the other Linux box through Samba I
see nothing :|. Now that other Linux box has Samba configured security
as user (i.e. security = user), so if I access the box from the WinXP
machine I'm able to see my home directory and all the shares that that
box has, so what username and password does nautilus send or does it
even send any information regarding the user?
