while I have been using Linux exclusively as my desktop environment
for 5+ years both at home and at work, I'm still keeping a 2nd
partition with Win98 installed on it because of the kids: a 5-year
old doesn't really care which OS you uses, as long as all his games
work for him. And at this point in time it's easier for me to simply
install them in Win98, and dual boot to it when needed than trying to
bring a more complex solution (for me and for him), in the Linux
partition.

At work, while we are a government shop, we are in a scientific
environment, and thus Unix/linux are the majority, probably due to
historical reasons; We are probably using for the desktop Linux for
70% of the users, Windows for 25% and Macs for the last 5%. And I'm
sure with a little bit of one-on-one evangelization we could bring
Linux to the 90% range of usage (but IT is not in my job description
over there...) since we don't use so many windows-only applications.
