Once again I've proven that you can try to blame someone else for a
problem, but often you have no one to blame but yourself :-( It
appears that we assigned the same static address to both the Ubuntu box
and a AXIS 7000 document server that had not been put into full
production. The scanner was turn off and we failed to put an address in
DNS or some other trackable means. Once turned on, neither box
complained that they both had the same address except when ssh was
trying a KeepAlive or something - then it would reset the connection.
I'm sure I've received a reply somewhere in my quest for a solution to
make sure I didn't have two devices with the same IP. Pinging an
address to see if it is free is not reliable!
Sujit, you may want to check and make sure your problem is not the same
as the one we caused by our dumb mistake.
