Yes, and there was a thread on this list about it.  There's a problem
with DMA in the Kernel when ripping using the native IDE interface.  To
fix it, either compile you're own Kernel, or use SCSI emulation for IDE
CD-ROM drive(s).  Search this list's archive for more info.
