Ahhhh, so you mean that if it works with Windows XP, it's because Nvidia
gave better drivers to MS, which allow ddcprobe (well, the windows
equivalent anyway...) to work ?
Bloody nvidia. Next time I buy a 3D card, I will make a point to buy a
Linux friendly one....

Ah, I am glad I opened my mouth... I knew there had to be a logical
explanation ;o)
BTW, good news. I tried installing the Colony again, and oh miracle,
this time network and DHCP etc worked perfectly, as expected.
And even the partitioner worked well, it showed the proper icons next to
the partitioned that were to be formatted.
It's weird, I did triple check the correctness of the CD before
installing... go figure.
However, USB and TV wise, it's the end of the world.
Warty: TV ok, no USB hotplug
Hoary: TV buggy, USB hotplug ok
Colony: Tv all broken, USB hotplug don't work anymore.
So TV wise, not only the supposedley patch Kernel didn't solve the Hoary
bug, but it completely broke it. Now I can't even select the proper
norm, I can only chose between NTSC and PAL, but I need SECAM over
here... :-/
Zapping won't even start, some weird error I can't remember the exact
content of.
Well, at least the scanner works fine now... let's stay positive ;-)
I will wait for the end of the gcc work to finish (hoping to see a note
on the devel list ?) before trying my chance with an update. If problems
are still there... I will have to re-open the bugs...
