firewire drive detection

Hi, I'm having the same problem with Hoary as I had with Warty regarding
my firewire drives.
The detection delay in the Hotplug scripts were mentioned as a possible
cause, but I couldn't find out how to modify this setting. I think
hotplug rather than the gnome-volume-manager is the culprit as the
/dev/sd* entries are not being created.
If I unplug and re-plug after boot-up one of the drives gets detected
but not the other (which is daisy-chained from a DVD-RW).
This is an annoying bug that I'd really like to report, but I don't know
what information to provide that could be useful to developers.
