The gap to a successful corporate desktop system.

What I find to be the biggest gap is an integrated
domain/directory/authentication system that Windows has and an Exchange

Sure, you have the basic components like OpenLDAP and Kerberos.  but
the glue/polish of them is missing.  That said, there is some work in
Ubuntu being done to address this problem.  

Integrated LDAP/Kerberos/NFSv4 support with nice management tools will
make Linux a viable alternative for MS in many bigger organisations. 
If Hula is completed, we will have something to replace Exchange. 
Things are getting there.
