Memory and CPU requirements

Oh well, I hardly meant to start a thread, barely give my opinion. I
don't have the force nor the will to fight or elaborate ;-)

Let's just put it in the YMMV category and call it done :-)

I might have made the mistake of assuming that he wanted to buy a new
CPU and RAM, and 1.0GHz is I guess as the slowest CPU you can get ? 

Maybe it would have helped us if we knew from the start if the aim was
to buy an old used second hand machine, not a brand new one.
Or maybe it was obvious to you and I was just too tired to read between
the lines... sorry my mistake ;-)

However he was asking for a default install, which includes Gimp and
OpenOffice, and I really don't want to have multiple OOo documents open
with only 128MB, as even with 512MB, and even with a 1.5GHz, I gave up,
too slow, too memory hungry. Even sitting doing nothing seems to be too
much to cope with for OOo.... ;-)
I thank God for Gnumeric and Abiword...and pray everyday that
development on these keeps going.
