TOTALLY new to all this. Ive been "lost in the forests of Windows" (
more like Blair Witch really ).

Anyway Iv'e been given a copy of UBUNTU, (for x86)and tried to load the
"live" disc to "have a look" ( I can't install (yet) as I'm paying off
my notebook)and it will not boot.

It comes up with some suggestions on what to type to get it to boot; I
tried this but still nothing.

I did have a copy of Linux's Mandrake 7 a while back and totally enjoyed
it (but it had a few problems and thus I don't use it now).

Could anyone help with this?

Regards
Big Al
