Very slow ripping (Stephen R Laniel)

Had this problem last weekend too, ripped a CD with 0.9x and a second 
with 1.2x. Because I got a Powerbook Pismo and the DVD - ROM built in 
the Pismo acts sometimes funny (only under MacOS, had no problems with 
it using Linux) I thought this is a cause of my powerbook. So maybe it's 
not? Would be great is a Solution is found!!!
