Memory card reader (USB port) : ins and outs ?

Sadly I don't have any blank CD's left so can't burn a Live CD or
anything. But since an updated Array 6 works, I take it a current Live
CD would work just as well ?
What's the difference between Warty and Hoary in our case ? ISTR that
Hoary uses a "udev" thing that Warty doesn't ? Or am I (probably, since
I am no Linux dev...) talking rubbish ?
