Ubuntu Mini-RAM HOWTO

I got the following message when I installed icewm, and it gave me an
idea:

Setting up icewm (1.2.18-1ubuntu1) ...
Checking available versions of x-window-manager, updating links in
/etc/alternat ives ...
(You may modify the symlinks there yourself if desired - see `man
ln'.)
Leaving x-window-manager (/usr/bin/x-window-manager) pointing to
/usr/bin/metacity.
Leaving x-window-manager.1.gz
(/usr/share/man/man1/x-window-manager.1.gz) pointing to
/usr/share/man/man1/metacity.1.gz.

So, after installing xfwm4, I switched my desktop from Gnome/metacity
to xfwm4 by running the following command in a root terminal:
ln -is /usr/bin/xfwm4 usr/bin/x-window-manager

I restarted by pressing Ctrl Alt Backspace, typed in "startx" and
suddently I was using xfwm4. I clicked on the Settings icon and changed
the background (centered) to
/usr/share/ubuntu-artwork/home/ubuntuheader.png

Now my desktop actually looks like a competent Ubuntu
mini-installation. It was the logo that did it. I still need to set up
more shortcuts to launch favorite programs.
