Universe package trans-de-en; dictionary delivered with iso-8859-1

The dictionary shipped with trans-de-en is formatted with iso-8859-1. If i'm
searching with ding (also universe) on a Hoary Array 7 system (default utf-8),
then i cannot find a words containing "Umlaute - äöü". I found a solution for
this problem:

iconv -f iso-8859-1 -t utf-8 /usr/share/trans/de-en >
/usr/share/trans/de-en.utf-8

and renaming the de-en.utf-8 to de-en. Ok, now my question: is it possible, that
the package trans-de-en will be modified and delivered with a utf-8 dictionary?
Or is there a currently a solution addressing this problem?

Best regards
