Kubuntu - root access question...

Okay, so I've used a couple other distros of linux before, but they always gave
me the option of logging in as root basically all of the time, making changing
my settings a breeze...Kubuntu is probably better off for not allowing this, but
I have the dumbest question ever:

How can I use the GUI to log in as root, if I want to change one file that is
only writable as root?  In this case, I'd like for the person who I've just
bestowed kubuntu upon to be able to change the repository settings
(sources.list) easily without tinkering with the terminal window.
