Hmmmmm.... sounds plausible indeed. I just installed Quanta, and depiste
being hardly at home in the Gnome enviroment, it is lightening quick,
extremely responsive.

So it's not a Linux problem then, it's a Gnome problem. Well at least I
know what's wrong then. I hope they are thinking of a complete redesign
of al this gtk stuff, to make it as fast as KDE (or faster if they can,
why limit ourselves...).
Sadly I can't this happening before Gnome 3.0 (please someone tell me I
am wrong), which will come sometimes in 2100.... :o(

I better get used to Gtk's slowness then... :o(
