Comment: just so you know in case you're frustrated... the
instructions at the wiki DO work so you _can_ get MOL working (I used
them today ;-). I suspect your problems with MOL have to do with my
two (somewhat rhetorical) questions below.

FYI these are the contents of my ../misc/ directory (ignore the
time-date stamp since that will depend on when you compile the
kernels):
ericd at UbuntuOnPismo:/lib/modules/2.6.10-4-powerpc/misc $ ls -l
total 84
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 68613 2005-03-13 20:09 mol.ko
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 11635 2005-03-13 20:09 sheep.ko

Questions for you to ponder:
1. Is your kernel-headers file up-to-date? This is CRUCIAL, for if it
is not any mol kernel headers you compile will NOT work.
2. Did you upgrade your kernel between the time you compiled the mol
kernel headers and tried running MOL? If so, then MOL will NOT work
with the mol kernel headers. You MUST recompile the mol kernel headers
to match the new kernel.
Recently we saw three different versions of the 2.6.10-4 kernel. The
pre-throbbing-sleep-light-as-HD-activity-indicator version (1), the
"tslaHDai" version (2) and the post-"tslaHDai"version (3) where the
annoying flashing light was mercifully disabled again (I'm not saying
it has anything to do with the throbbing light).
>From version 1 to 2 MOL continued to work. From 2 to 3 MOL stopped
working and I just had to recompile the kernel headers. I guess this
is partly why Ubuntu doesn't support MOL yet for Hoary in the
universe... rebuilding the headers for each kernel update would become
a tad taxing... instead, one or two versions in the final (stable)
release are the best use of resources (given the number of people
using stable version vs. unstable versions).
Alright, here's the output of my MOL FYI:
