I did use 'ddcprobe' and it showed my video specs
which are:

vbe: VESA 2.0 detected.
oem: Silicon Motion SM710 VGA BIOS
memory: 1664kb
mode: 1024x768x64k
mode: 1024x768x256
mode: 1024x768x16
mode: 800x600x16
mode: 800x600x256
mode: 800x600x64k
mode: 800x600x16m
mode: 640x480x256
mode: 640x480x64k
mode: 640x480x16m

Just for kicks I did try to see what Hoary's
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 looked like.

In 'gedit' it came up blank. The XF86Config-4 file
doesn't exit in the X11 directory at all. I did a
'locate' command and still go nothing. It seems this
file isn't in Hoary on the Laptop.

So, I am at a loss now. I'd hate to have to uninstall
Hoary and reinstall Warty so I can get the proper
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4

Obviously I'm a bit of noob too - how does one restart
'X'? Reboot? Restart Ubuntu? From the command line?

Again any help would be appreciated so I can get this
Laptop's display working right.
